This week I had the privilege of giving my second talk at the Centre for Advanced Research in Experimental and Applied Linguistics (ARiEAL) at McMaster University - almost exactly a year after my first presentation! Back then, I was here as a visiting researcher through ARiEAL's International Scholar Award Program.
This time, I shared the latest developments in my postdoctoral research at UFPEL, which I’m conducting in collaboration with Dr. Daniel Schmidtke from McMaster. Our study explores how people's first language can shape the way their minds process certain concepts in a foreign language. But just as meaningful as presenting my work was the opportunity to engage with ARiEAL researchers - taking questions, hearing insights, and receiving invaluable feedback.
A huge thank you to Dr. Victor Kuperman, director of the Reading Lab, and Dr. Anna Moro, director of the MELD Research Lab, for the kind invitation and for making this second visit possible!
